Bülbüllerin Şarkı Söylediği Yer
WHERE THE NIGHTINGALES SING
Behiç Ak
Editor: Müren Beykan
Much loved for the distinctive children’s novels he writes and illustrates at the same time, Behiç Ak approaches a philosophical subject again with humour, exploring the relationships we establish with ourselves and our environment. He emphasizes the value of the serenity of rural life forgotten in the extremely fast-paced city life, highlighting the harmony of nature and its impact on self-discovery. Drawing attention to the differences and interactions between city and village life, the novel makes the readers think about nature, art, and talent with its colourful characters.
Overview
Kerem wants to prove that he is different from his father. While he is on a walk, he first meets his inner voice, then finds himself in a lush highland where the nightingales’ songs echo. Along the way, he encounters a giant man sculpting a melon, his sister’s colourful friend Dilan, the shepherd dog Dost, Eşber, who is learning to play the cello from his sister, and the fashion designer Feyza. What about the scarecrows performing a fashion show and the field full of footballs? Are they real? How would Kerem make peace with himself, and how would he find the real Kerem?
