In his second book collected in the “Tombiş Kitaplar” (Chubby Books) series published by Günışığı Kitaplığı, Behiç Ak, the favorite of children with the “Gülümseten Öyküler” he wrote and illustrated, sets out from a pebble to encourage children to observe the world around them. The book uses a very creative and clear language to illustrate that each individual’s perception and ideas may be very different from one another’s and surprises its readers with the various aspects of a tiny stone. If one little stone can have so many different aspects, who knows how many different stories creative readers can write about life’s variety and richness.
Overview
Memo finds a small pebble while walking in the beach. He is attracted by this pebble gleaming in the sun. Memo finds the pebble very interesting. However, what is even more interesting is that everyone he encounters discovers different peculiarities in this one pebble. According to some, the pebble is very courageous, according to others, it is very talented. What peculiarity will his friend Tombiş find in this pebble that Memo is so proud of?..

Behiç Ak
He was born in Samsun and studied architecture at Yıldız Technical University and İstanbul Technical University. He’s a well-known cartoonist, author, illustrator, and documentary film director. Since 1982 he’s been drawing the cartoon strip “Kim Kime Dum Duma” that criticizes daily life. His cartoons were exhibited in several countries like Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.
