Mustafa Delioğlu

He was born in Erzincan. He continued the illustration work he began in 1968, particularly illustrating children’s books in the studio he set up in 1975. Delioğlu, who has developed a unique style in this field, has held art exhibitions and was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2013 and the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2022. The acclaimed artist received the Children’s Book Illustration Honorary Award from the Aydın Doğan Foundation in 2023, specially organized for the 100th anniversary of the Republic. In addition to countless books, he also illustrated Gülsevin Kıral’s poetry book When Fleas Were Barbers and Camels Were Brokers (Berber Pire Tellal Deve, 2008), story books Flying Tuesday (Uçan Salı, 2010) by Müge İplikçi and The King Who Lost His Powers (Gücünü Yitiren Kral, 2011) by Pakize Özcan for Günışığı Kitaplığı. The master artist, who brought to life Çiğdem Sezer’s epic poem, The Hundred-Year-Old Plane Tree (Yüz Yaşında Bir Çınar, 2023) celebrating the 100th year of our Republic, with his unique illustrations, passed away in İstanbul on August 27, 2025.
