Award-winning author Hacer Kılcıoğlu, beloved for her witty and heartfelt children’s books, takes readers on a journey through time, reminiscing about an era untouched by technology. She brings to life close-knit neighbourhoods, filled with soda bottles, photo albums, outdoor games, and mischievous adventures. With a touch of humour, she offers a nostalgic reflection on the cultural values of our social life.
Overview
When Duru opens her eyes, she finds herself in an unfamiliar town surrounded by single-story houses with gardens. Soon, she encounters Jale, a lively girl her age who chatters nonstop while bouncing on the branches of trees, her pockets full of roasted chickpeas. With no choice but to follow her, Duru embarks on an adventure under the watchful eyes of chatty storks, chasing after the missing rooster Pataros. From an ice seller’s shop to the train station, from a feast of fried pastries to a visit to the post office to make a call, she collects unfamiliar words and memories vastly different from her own life. Would Duru be able to figure out how and why she ended up in this old town she has never known before..?
