Who said “geography” is boring?
Vladimir Tumanov, who started writing children’s books to help his son enjoy difficult subjects at school, focuses on geography in his second book, which is the first book of a tetralogy. In order for the two brothers to get out of a big trouble they caused themselves they must improve their map-reading skills. As readers find the countries clued in the riddles by using world map and encyclopaedias, the story makes learning both fun and engaging while emphasizing geography’s importance in everyday life. The book, which encourages problem solving by using the data at hand, improves map reading through interesting riddles and encourages research from reference sources such as encyclopaedias.
Overview
The lives of Chris and Francis, Alt brothers, who recently moved to the big city with their family from a quiet and boring town, change unexpectedly and turn into a nightmare one evening when they are caught in the rain on their way back home from the cinema. In the shop full of strange objects where they take shelter from the rain, the “delicious” candies they snack on without permission begin to age the children rapidly. Their only way out is to solve riddles that appear on an old world map. Although it seems easy at first, when an ambitious reporter named Wrangler starts chasing them, the siblings face an uphill battle. Escaping their pursuer, dealing with the challenges of rapid aging, and uncovering the secrets hidden within the map become a thrilling, almost impossible mission…
