Vladimir Tumanov

Born in Moscow in 1961, Vladimir Tumanov worked as a professor between 1991-2025 in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Western University in Canada. Jayden’s Rescue (Kraliçeyi Kurtarmak), his debut children’s novel, reached millions of readers in many countries including Turkey since its first publication in 2004. In this adventure, which captivates both young readers and adults, the protagonists solve mathematical puzzles to rescue the captive queen. His second novel, Old Scroll (Haritada Kaybolmak), published by Günışığı Kitaplığı in 2006 for the first time in the world, achieved the same success as his debut. Inviting readers into a breathless adventure centered on another “challenging” subject for children, geography, the book follows siblings whose survival depends on solving geographical riddles. Tumanov’s novel Greggie-Boy the Bug (Böcek Çocuk) was published in 2017. His suspense-filled novel Cassandra’s Mountain (Asılı Dağ’ın Kâhini, 2020), based on a real event, also attracted great interest. The author’s much-loved novel Old Scroll started the “Mysterious Maps” series published by Günışığı Kitaplığı for the first time in the world. The series continued with Aqua (Suda Kaybolmak, 2021), which explores global warming, followed by the third book of the series Brimstone 13 (Ateşten Kaçmak, 2022) that features an asteroid threat from space. The final book of the series, Uncharted (Volkandan Kaçmak, 2023), tells the story of the struggle to escape from a deserted island through scientific reasoning and solidarity. Tumanov lives in London, Canada, with his wife. He has a daughter and a son. He continues to write for children and for the world.
