Dünyanın İki Ucu
TWO ENDS OF THE EARTH
Hacer Kılcıoğlu
Editor: Müren Beykan
This world is meant for us to live in together...
Beloved for the way she brings different cultures together with a lively voice, Hacer Kılcıoğlu now invites readers on a story that moves between Turkey and India. While Osman, who is far away from his family, eases his worries with the help of his friend Ayda, Rita, who is waiting for her father’s return, looks after the guests who come to their hotel. Bringing two very different lives together in a parallel narrative, the novel bridges distant worlds through cross-cultural encounters. It reminds us that, with all our differences, we belong to the same Earth, awakening a sense of empathy and the emotions of childhood.
Overview
While his parents are traveling in India, Osman moves in with his uncle. As he prepares for a film shoot with the school’s marching band, his thoughts are constantly with his family, from whom he hasn’t heard any news… In India, Rita lives in the small hotel run by her family and waits for her father, who has gone to see her mother off to London. A violent storm breaks out, bringing both transportation and communication to a halt… Despite the thousands of miles between them, Osman and Rita’s days of waiting are brightened by songs, friendship and solidarity…
