Suat Duman

Suat Duman was born in 1977 in Kars. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Ankara University. While working as a lawyer, he began writing crime novels. His debut novel Cinayet Mevsimi (2009) was followed by Müruruzaman Cinayetleri (2011) and Dünyanın Leşleri (2015). In 2012, he co-founded the publishing house Alakarga Yayınları with four friends. His novel Rakun (2018) was selected as Crime Fiction Book of the Year at the 2018 Dünya Kitap Awards. Duman is also the author of a ten-book historical crime series planned to be compiled under the title “1918”. The first two volumes, Ah Dehşet, Dehşet Dehşet! and Kalbim, Kimsesiz Yurdum, were published in 2020, followed by Bir Hayalet Dolaşıyor (2021) and Anatomi Dersleri (2025). His first children’s novel, The Missing Birdsong (Kayıp Kuş Sesleri, 2026), is the opening title for the series named after its protagonist, Mars Vulpes, as part of Günışığı Kitaplığı’s Mysterious Adventures collection. Suat Duman lives in İstanbul and has one daughter.
