Hatice Demir
Born in Aydın in 1985, Hatice Demir studied Turkish Language Teaching in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. She started working as a Turkish language teacher and later took on administrative roles as well. Hatice Demir, stepped into the magical world of words when she was a child. She received awards in various poetry and story competitions during her middle and high school years, and continued to work on writing during her university years. Her debut children’s novel Kids of Acacia Square (Akasyalı Meydanın Çocukları, 2002), captures the mystery of an acacia tree toppled by a storm in the village square, with poetic language. Her latest novel, One of Those Days (Günlerden Bir Gün, 2024), reminds us of the hope of continuing life despite losses, within the triangle of a grandfather, a grandchild, and a crane.
