Günay Gafur

Günay Gafur was born in Ankara in 1978. He studied Chemical Engineering at Ankara University. His first crime fiction novel, Kuklacı (2011), was followed by another novel in the same genre, Kâhin (2015). A founding member of the Mystery Writers of Turkey, Gafur contributed the short story “Ölüm Manifestosu” to Kanlakarışık (2018), a collaborative anthology published by the association. Gafur has written crime fiction across various media. Following Yargıç (2019), a novel noted for its poetic language, he won the 2024 Crystal Cuffs Mystery Book of the Year Award with his novel Baba (2024). The author’s latest crime fiction novel, Empat, was published in 2026, the same year his first novel for children, The Butterfly Effect (Kelebek Etkisi) was published as the first book in the “Chaos Games” series within the Mysterious Adventures collection of Günışığı Kitaplığı. Günay Gafur lives in Ankara and has a daughter and a son.
