Günay Gafur

Günay Gafur was born in Ankara in 1978. He studied Chemical Engineering at Ankara University. His first crime fiction novel, Kuklacı (2011), was followed by another novel in the same genre, Kâhin (2015). A founding member of the Mystery Writers of Turkey, Gafur contributed the short story “Ölüm Manifestosu” to Kanlakarışık (2018), a collaborative anthology published by the association. Gafur has written crime fiction across various media. Following Yargıç (2019), a novel noted for its poetic language, he won the 2024 Crystal Cuffs Mystery Book of the Year Award with his novel Baba (2024). The author’s latest crime fiction novel, Empat, was published in 2026. The same year, The Butterfly Effect (Kelebek Etkisi) and Quantum Island (Kuantum Adası), the first two books in his “Chaos Games” series for children, were published back-to-back as part of Günışığı Kitaplığı’s Mysterious Adventures collection. Gafur lives in Ankara and has a daughter and a son.
