Gaye Boralıoğlu
She was born in İstanbul in 1963. She studied Philosophy at the Literature Department of İstanbul University. She received her master’s degree on Systematic Philosophy and Logic. She worked as a journalist and writer. She wrote for advertisements and studied on plays too. Her first story book, Hepsi Hikâye (2001) was followed by her first novel, Meçhul (2004). Her first book was published in 2001 and it was a story book. Then she began to write novels. Her novel Syncopated Rhtym (Aksak Ritim, 2009) has been translated to German and Arabic; the novel won the honorable mention of the Notre Dame de Sion Literary Award in 2011. And then with her novel Blessed Women (Mübarek Kadınlar, 2014) she won Yunus Nadi Story Award in 2015. Her books attracted many readers in Germany too. Her novel Der Fall Ibrahim (Meçhul, 2004) selected for “Between Lines” programme at Frankfurt Book Fair in 2017. She also writes scripts for popular TV series and on the other hand, she continues to write about politics, literature and cinema. Her first book from Günışığı Kitaplığı is The Voice in Me (İçimdeki Ses, 2013) is a part of award winning “Bridge Book” collection and it tells the story of a young girl who doesn’t feel that she fit to the environment she lives in. Boralıoğlu also awarded Duygu Asena Novel Award in 2019 with her latest novel Down from the World (Dünyadan Aşağı, 2018). She lives in İstanbul
