What can you steal from a city?
Gülsevin Kıralcontinues to solve thrilling puzzles in her second book of “Ömer Alwayssolves Detective Agency” series. The author invites the reader to think about the values which form a city and how the cities separated from their historical and natural background, lose their identity. Without being didactical, the novel offers information on history and architectural monuments. The story brings together the cities’ pasts and advances from time and space, from Yedikule Fortress to the Great Wall of China. Charismatic dedective Ömer and his protegee Mustafa’s adventures call upon children’s curiosity while pointing out many contemporary events, such as Yenikapı excavations and tree massacre. With its playful language and fantastic themes inside a reality, the story invites both children and adults to think about the future of the cities.
