Sibel K. Türker is the author of the 24th book of the award-winning Bridge Books collection.

Sibel K. Türker, one of the award-winning master authors of our contemporary literature, wrote the 24th book of the Köprü Kitaplar (Bridge Books) collection, edited by Semih Gümüş. The novel tells about the price a broken family pays to create hope, through the eyes of young Ekin, depicting the experiences of a harsh Ankara winter. It is a realistic story outlining the effects of understanding each other, confrontations and love. In this first YA novel she wrote, Sibel K. Türker touches our hearts with her plain narration and elegant style and takes us for a walk on the paths of growing up, full of pain and discovery.

Everything has been difficult for Ekin that winter. Her separated parents came together years later for the sake of her brother Can. Her working mother copes with her obligatory pregnancy and her father who returns home, tries to heal himself by baking fancy cakes, to support both Can and the family. Although Ekin is impressed by her parents’ adaptation to the conditions, she never brings herself to go and visit her brother. If it weren’t for her high school friends Gizem and Özgür, it seemed like winter would never come to an end…

Its a story that will attract almost every young reader’s attention where they will find parts from their own lives. The novel has a number of other characters besides Ekin. Characters from real life. Sibel K. Türker knows how to preserve their authenticity and maintains their place in the whole story without loosing them.Semih Gümüş
