Selen Aydın • Huban Korman
Editor: Müren Beykan
Because friends enlighten the darkness!
Selen Aydın takes the small readers on a journey full of love and empathy with this picture book, the first of the many children’s stories infused in her mind for many years. With this story of a candle who is afraid of dark, she reminds us that our belongings have memories as well and they have a function and value just like other living thigs. With the illustrations of award winning master artist Huban Korman, who is also nominated for the prestigious 2021 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, this impressive story turned into a visual feast. The story which defeats fears with its cheerful and warm language is perfect for those who love to live in the emotional universe of friendship and to read with the little ones.
Candle Selami has been forgotten in the drawer along with many other items that have not been used for a long time. One day, when the electricity is cut off, he’s taken out of the drawer and lit. Candle Selami feels very happy now. But when electricity comes back things get messed up. Nobody in the house can extinguish him. Eventually, they decide to take this stubborn red candle to the famous candle doctor…
